McKinney-Vento Act Information

At Easton Arts Academy Elementary Charter School, we are committed to providing a continuity of educational programming for students who are experiencing homelessness.

A "homeless student" is defined as an individual lacking a fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence, including but not limited to:

1. Students living in shared housing due to economic hardship or similar reasons ("doubling up").

2. Students living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or campgrounds due to lack of alternative accommodations.

3. Students living in emergency or transitional shelters.

4. Students abandoned in hospitals or awaiting foster care placement.

5. Students living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, or similar settings.

6. Migratory children living in circumstances described above.

An "unaccompanied youth" is defined as a homeless child or youth not in the physical custody of a parent or guardian. Unaccompanied youth are entitled to the same educational rights and protections as other homeless students.
